Please join me in fasting and praying for the Kenyan Violence!
Psalm 34:1-10
I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
let us exalt his name together.
I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles.
For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
he surrounds and defends all who fear him.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Fear the Lord, you his godly people,
for those who fear him will have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.
My heart is breaking over the situation in what is to be my home in less than two weeks. Most of you have heard of the unrest in Kenya. More information can be found on www.bbc.com or www.cnn.com
More than 300 people have been killed and at least 70,000 driven from their homes across Kenya since Sunday.
The violence was triggered by claims of vote rigging in the 27 December presidential election.
Tension remains high in Kenya after the opposition called off a rally in the capital, Nairobi.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga called for a million
of his Orange Democratic Movement supporters to attend the rally, but
police prevented them from gathering. The demonstration has been
rescheduled for next week.
Mr Odinga accuses President Mwai Kibaki of stealing last week’s election. There have been violent clashes across the country.
I am to be moving to the very slum where much rioting has happened in less than two weeks. These people are very close to my heart and I have yet to meet them. I am asking that you join with me to pray that God works in miraculous ways.
May peace be restored in Kenya! Pray for
restoration of peace. Pray that there is a true reconciliation between the
tribes. Pray that the killing ends. Pray that the displaced will be able to return home soon. Pray that there will be an establishment of a secure government. Pray that the
Lord will move powerfully on behalf of His children in Kenya.
Pray that it will join the body in Kenya into perfect unity. May Christ be brought glory through all these things.
